The History of Architects@BHD Ltd
Architects@BHD Ltd, formerly Bob Harrington Design Ltd, have been creating buildings and places for the last 30 years, working on projects all over the South-East of England and the Midlands for a variety of Developers, Contractors and individual Clients all the way from the outset of a project to its completion.
The Practice encompasses a breadth of work to accommodate any Client from bespoke homes and extensions to conversions of older listed properties and heritage assets, commercial developments for private Clients as well as work with Housing Association’s and developers on a variety of large scale housing projects.
Our track record over the years has proven that Architects@BHD are equally as comfortable tackling smaller bespoke projects as we are master planning and detailing large development schemes.
Originally formed as Bob Harrington Design back in 1991, the Practice became a limited company in 2003 under the guidance of Robert Harrington, the company founder. Bob created the Practice on the back of 20 years experience working in the construction industry, mainly designing and managing the construction of residential schemes for several large developers.
The Practice’s Growth Over The Years
The early work of the Practice concentrated on the experiences gained from working with the housing industry and many early projects were in and around the Milton Keynes area, working with Developers on a diverse range of sites, from bespoke houses to major housing developments of 250 homes.
As the Practice grew over the years so did the breadth and scale of the work undertaken. The Practice now encompasses commercial developments, conversions of older properties and work with Housing Association’s on a variety of "Design & Build" housing projects as regular workloads along with the traditional residential development we specialise in.
Through many years working in the surrounding areas and other counties further afield we have also been able to cultivate a sound working relationship with many of the Local Authorities in the region, which we can use for the benefit of our Clients.
Located in the town of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, the Practice has always been well placed to assist and successfully deliver projects all around London, the South-East and Midlands.
The Practice Now
After many years successfully running the Practice and expanding it from a sole trader to the size it is today, Bob took the decision to step down from the day-to-day administration of the company to enjoy some well deserved free time. Bob still maintains a close working relationship with the Practice however, working as a freelance consultant regularly and maintaining a large amount of trusted and experienced Clients on behalf of the Practice.
With over 30 years as a Practice successfully designing buildings all over the South and the Midlands area, the Practice rebranded part way through 2023 as Architects@BHD Ltd. The Practice operates exactly as previously with the same experienced staff providing an excellent service to both new and existing Clients.
